I think mothers are some of the most under-appreciated people in the world. On this Mother’s Day I would like to remind us to be good to our mothers and appreciate them more. However, today’s message is not about how to be good to your mom; but rather it is about a couple that had to make some hard choices for the welfare of their son. Being a mother or a father isn’t for the faint of heart. Proper parenting requires some tough decisions that are humanly risky and at times heart wrenching. Biblical parenting involves making decisions that require believing what God has said and acting on that faith. Although, in America, we do not deal with the threat of our children being drowned physically, there are real threats from their flesh and society that seeks to destroy them spiritually. Proper parenting requires providing adequate protection from these threats.
