Church history is replete with accounts such as these, which highlight the marvelous power of the gospel to transform sinners. But no transformation is as remarkable, or has had such far-reaching implications for history, as the conversion of Saul of Tarsus. So significant an event was his conversion that Scripture records it no less than three times (Acts 91-6; 22:1-16; 26:4-18). Our true marks of maturity begin with a choice, “Who will run and rule our life?” Once we have trusted Christ as Savior, the Holy Spirit of God comes to live within us, and now desires to be president of our life. It is when we surrender to the Holy Spirit, as commander and chief of our life that real spiritual progress begins.
