As we strive for true holiness, we should express the genuine characteristics of true love. One commentator writes, “The most difficult, painful experience for a faithful minister is to be misrepresented, to be falsely accused, to have one’s integrity unfairly attacked…Throughout history, God’s faithful servants have endured such slanderous false accusations. But no one endured more vicious, relentless, and unjust attacks than the apostle Paul.“ Paul wanted the Corinthian church to see, in him, the genuine characteristics of true love regardless of what was being said about him in public. Paul demonstrated honesty, affection, purity, forgiveness, and trust toward the Corinthian church. We too, must show these characteristics toward one another.
