Oswald Chambers wrote, “Today the world has taken so many things out of the church, and the church has taken so many things out of the world, that it is difficult to know where the church really stands.” The old time evangelist Vance Havner said, “Today the world has so infiltrated the church, that we are more beset by traitors within than by foes without. Satan is not fighting churches—he is joining them.” The Jews lacked discernment in their decisions for lifetime mates, and the church leaders lacked discretion in which they allowed into the temple. Today seems to be no different. We are witnessing the church looking more and more like the world. We are called to be distinctly different from the world and to show them Christ; however, we find too many Christians today spending all their effort in justifying their sinful behavior while crying, “Don’t judge!” We want to look today at what a faithful church looks like and what are the trouble signs of a troubled church.
