We have already looked at the rest offered in Canaan, but today we want to look at the rest that is pictured in the Sabbath rest. The rest in Canaan pictures the rest of submission; while the rest of the Sabbath pictures the rest of salvation. We can rest in the person of Jesus Christ as we learn to live by faith. As we delight, commit, trust ourselves to His ultimate plan, we learn to rest in His amazing grace. We rest in Him as He corrects us through His word, as He cares for us in this world, and as He comforts us through His wisdom. We do need grace, mercy, and help and therefore, we run to the source of that provision of rest, the Lord Jesus Christ.
