The foundation for fellowship among Christians is a genuine love for God. The deepest kind of fellowship is not based on friendship or family relationships; it is based on the spiritual life we have in Christ. A church fellowship based on anything other than love for Christ and for one another simply will not last. Chapter 13 combines a series of moral and spiritual exhortations, which, if obeyed, will prove to be a very practical outworking of the command to love. Today, we want to look at six specific character traits of the Christian who truly loves God and genuinely loves others. The mature believer is marked by being genuine in love, good at hospitality, gentle in suffering, giving in marriage, godly in contentment, and gracious toward Pastors.
