We, as Christians, are to put on the breastplate of faith and love. These two virtues, like a breastplate of armor, protect the heart. Faith guards it within keeping us in a close relationship with Christ. Love guides our hearts in our outward behavior toward others.

Along with this breastplate we are to keep on the helmet of the hope of salvation. Our head is the control center of our life. It processes our thoughts and emotions. It analyzes life. The surety of our salvation guards our thoughts away from the evils around us, and it guides our focus to be on Christ who is eternal. He came at Christmas and He will come again, and we shall live with Him forever.
