It is no secret that the sin of unbelief is what sent the Israelites wandering in the wilderness for 40 years. Those who were not of accountability, twenty years and younger, and Joshua and Caleb were among the only ones to enter the promise land. Moses was not permitted to enter either. Some believe that Moses was not able to enter because of his anger or temper, but the Bible clearly states that he was not allowed to enter because of his unbelief. The writer of Hebrews is making a serious case for those who have been given the truth, and then have chosen to deny or not believe it. Those who will be sentenced to an eternity in hell, will be those to whom God has revealed Himself and they have chosen to deny the truth of it. In this chapter we will see the (1) superiority of Christ to Moses, necessity of faith in Christ, and the eternity of unbelief without Christ.
