We have been studying how the people of Israel had experienced revival as they submitted themselves to the authority of the Word of God. They willingly offered themselves to do the will of God and enthusiastically participate in their God-given roles. Now it was time to dedicate the work to the Lord. It is always the proper order to dedicate ourselves first and then the work unto the Lord. It is important to note that the emphasis during the dedication of the wall was on joyful praise on the part of all the people. Singing is mentioned eight times in this chapter, thanksgiving six times, rejoicing seven times, and musical instruments three times. Therefore, we see the important factors regarding a dedicated life. There will be a new singing, new speaking, and new submitting.
