We have just studied the chapter describing how faith works and were manifested in the lives of some great servants of the Lord. We must not suppose that such faith belonged only to the record of the past. It is to be a present continuing thing, spanning the ages and knowing no boundaries, and the writer is intent on encouraging his Hebrew readers to emulate the faith of these great saints and live for God as they had done. How many believers are encumbered by weights? We must be disciplined, and lay aside every impediment, and earnestly devote our time and energies to the race before us. But above all we must beware of sin. We must lay aside every sin, which may so easily, at any time, entangle us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus.
