Nehemiah would not compromise with the deceptive tactics of the enemy. (vs. 1-4) We must be very vigilant and sober regarding the deception and distractions of Satan. He is always looking for willing people who will assist him in halting the work of God. Nehemiah was faithful when confronted with the opportunity to compromise, and he was faithful as the enemies turned to slander. He was convinced the work could only be accomplished as God strengthened their hands to do the work. Today so many Christians are quitting on their calling of God in their marriage, parenting, church, and other relationships. Don’t Quit! May our hands be strengthened by God for the work He has given to us to do so that His name can be glorified. May those around us “perceive that this work is wrought of our God.” (vs. 16)
