Noah was warned of God about things that were going to happen. Noah’s fear was not a selfish fear of personally suffering hurt or loss, but rather it was a holy, reverential, befitting awe, which recognized the majesty and holiness of God. Noah understood God’s right to act in judgment against sinful men. Such recognition of God would recognize too that he and his family were part of that fallen race of sinners. In a reverential fear of God’s holiness, Noah was prompted by faith to do whatever was communicated by Divine direction. Noah teaches us three things about faith: (1) Do exactly what God says. (2) Stand in contrast to a fallen world. (3) Enjoy the blessing of doing right.
