The main struggle of Christians in this Laodicean age is apathy. People are lukewarm in their Christianity. In Revelation 3, God proclaims that this type of apathy makes Him sick. Here in Nehemiah we find a man who cared about what was happening in Jerusalem and it bothered him that it was bringing reproach to the name of God. Are their things that bother you? What things bother you the most? The answer to this question will help you better define your true priority system. The practical theme of this great book is to teach that believers must be united in their efforts to serve the Lord. Those who do the Lords work must be willing to work diligently and to overcome all opposition by the enemy. They must be faithful in performing even undesirable jobs, fighting through exhaustion and remaining totally committed to the task at hand. This Sunday we want to review the three acts of Nehemiah that showed he cared.
