Pastor’s Bible Reading Schedule:
Nehemiah 12; Psalm 98, 134
Psalm 134:1-3
1 Behold, bless ye the LORD, all ye servants of the LORD, which by night stand in the house of the LORD.
2 Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the LORD.
3 The LORD that made heaven and earth bless thee out of Zion.
True worship is about God and His worth. As we exalt our God, we demonstrate His worth for He is certainly worthy to be praised. Those who were leading the worship of God in His house, were to draw attention to the character of God. They were to praise Him for His attributes, His actions, and His admonitions.
The lifting of the hands was a symbol of humility and surrender to God’s wisdom, working, and will. True worship is about pleasing the Lord. It has been said, “There are two options on the shelf, pleasing God or pleasing self.” Unfortunately, much that is called worship today is nothing but pure entertainment designed to satisfy man. However, true worship is about satisfying God. It is about putting all that is true about God on display. God’s house is the place where corporate worship takes place, but worship is to be part of each Christians life all day every day.
True worship will include gratitude, giving, godliness, and gladness. May we spend an extended amount of time today in worship of our God. May we praise Him for who He is, thank Him for what He has done, and surrender to everything He wants.
