Pastor’s Bible Reading Schedule:
1 Chronicles 18; 2 Samuel 8; Psalm 19; 24
Key Thought:
Psalm 19 is a great chapter on the word of God. It describes its beauty, declares its power, and directs its reader. “Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer.”(vs. 14) The word of God is the sole instrument through which God has chosen to convict, convert, counsel, and comfort believers. It is the chief instrument through which God has revealed His character to the world. The Bible is a living book, and it describes the very life of God.
So powerful is the Bible that it is a discerner of our hearts, possessing a living insight into our inner lives. (Heb. 4:12) Scripture contains a supernatural capacity to cut into the innermost recesses of our soul, penetrating far deeper than felt needs which lie on the surface. Only the Word can reveal the depths of human depravity and, in turn, lead to the true knowledge of God. Only the Word can convert the lost human soul to God. “Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.” (Rom 10:17)
It is also important to not forget that only the Word of God can sanctify a believer and transform him into the image of Christ. There can be no spiritual growth in our lives apart from the Word of God. This is why you have read it this morning. This is why I send these devotionals and daily reading schedules. This is why we anxiously await our devotional times. The word of God is alive and it transforms our lives!
