Pastor’s Bible Reading Schedule:
Proverbs 19
Saturday: Hosea 1-7
Sunday: John 7-9
Here is another of the proverbs that compare God’s values with those of the world. No one wants to be poor, but honest poverty is better than being a fool.Verse 1 contrasts a blameless or morally whole lifestyle with the perverse or twisted utterances of a fool.
This proverb offers an additional motivation for seeking wisdom. Not only will it help you live more effectively; it will also bring great joy to your parents. Integrity is an attractive picture of warm affection, pairing love for wisdom with love for the people closest to you. A dad’s heart will be encouraged when he hears his son say something that shows he has committed himself to righteousness. Verse two teaches that a person may have zeal with a strong inner drive for success. However, if this motivation is not directed by knowledge,it can lead to hasty blunders. Many people act hurriedly, then blame God for their mistakes.
How often a person ignores God’s warnings and ruins his own life yet blames God for his trouble! Human discernment is limited. We do not understand all that takes place and we certainly cannot predict its outcome because life is under God’s control, not ours. Trusting God is the only reasonable response.
A fool may eventually realize his need for instruction, but a person who is wise in his own eyes is unteachable. There is no hope for him to change until he admits his need for help.
