Suggested Bible Reading: Exodus 10-12
Devotional Thought:
“The wages of sin is death…” The price tag of our sin is separation from God who is absolutely holy. He is so perfect that he cannot tolerate or be exposed to sin. Pharaoh’s rebellion has brought death to Egypt. “And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die… And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more.” (11:5-6) What a picture of those who are cast into the lake of fire because of their rejection of the gift of salvation. This is indeed the second death. The only salvation was to apply the blood to the doorpost. “And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.” (vs. 13) The death angel did not pass over the place where the man had great faith, but rather he passed over the place where the blood was applied. Whether the man went to bed with confidence or whether he jumped up in the middle of the night and checked on his first born, the issue was never which home had the most faith, but rather did they apply the blood. The same thing is true today for salvation. It isn’t who has the most faith, but rather it is the blood of God’s Son that cleanseth us from all sin. We are indeed saved by grace through faith, but it isn’t the amount of our faith, but rather the object of our faith that produces salvation.
Prayer Requests:
• Lord, please help me to grow in my faith, but I am so thankful for my salvation that is provided through the blood of my Savior.
• Lord, thank you for the provision you have made for my salvation. I am so weak and I so often fail. I am so thankful that my salvation is secure in the sufficiency of blood of Jesus Christ.
• Lord, please help me to never forget that there are so many around me that need to hear about the love of God and the provision of salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ.
