Pastor’s Bible Reading Schedule:
Psalm 80, 116; Jeremiah 43-44
Psalm 80:3-7
3 Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
4 O LORD God of hosts, how long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people?
5 Thou feedest them with the bread of tears; and givest them tears to drink in great measure.
6 Thou makest us a strife unto our neighbours: and our enemies laugh among themselves.
7 Turn us again, O God of hosts, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
The psalmist, in psalm 80, is asking God to send a revival. Israel had been blessed of God, led by God, and now they were being spanked by God. Aspah reminds God of how He brought them out of Egypt, led them through the wilderness, and gave them the Promise Land. They had prospered and were a testimony for the whole world to see. However, their sin of idolatry had brought them to the point of needing discipline, and God, the faithful Shepherd, was dealing with them.
I feel America is on the same track. We have been blessed of God. We have been a testimony of a nation, under God, for the world to see. We communicated to the world, “in God we trust” as a contrast to the communist world who embraced atheism. However, America continues to move away from our roots and foundation that our Founding Father’s instilled in us and weaved into our constitution. We never think discipline will ever come, but when it does, it will hurt like crazy. Much like Israel, the tears will flow and we will beg for God to make His face to shine upon us and to give to us peace. May we see revival before God spanks America!
