Pastor’s Bible Reading Schedule:
Genesis 33-35; 1 Chronicles 2:1-2
Key Thought:
Genesis 33:4 states, “And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept.” True reconciliation involves both the repentance of the wrong doer, and the forgiveness of the one wronged. Jacob demonstrated his repentance in his gifts and willingness to demonstrate his guilt in the estranged relationship. Esau was willing to demonstrate true repentance as he states, “…I have enough, my brother, keep that thou hast unto thyself.” (vs. 9) Although Jacob was able to convince Esau to take the gifts, they really had nothing to do with the reconciliation. The reconciliation was because both the brother’s hearts were ready to reconcile. Do you have somebody for which you need to reconcile? You can only do your part whether it is to accept responsibility for wrong doing, or to extend forgiveness to the one who has wronged you. May we too experience the joy of true reconciliation.
