Pastor’s Bible Reading Schedule:
Ezekiel 1-4
Ezekiel 2:1-5
1 And he said unto me, Son of man, stand upon thy feet, and I will speak unto thee.
2 And the spirit entered into me when he spake unto me, and set me upon my feet, that I heard him that spake unto me.
3 And he said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me: they and their fathers have transgressed against me, even unto this very day.
4 For they are impudent children and stiffhearted. I do send thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD.
5 And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they are a rebellious house,) yet shall know that there hath been a prophet among them.
We can study the experiences of great men of God who have been with God. Every instance has a common theme, it changed their lives and ministry. Jacob saw God at Peniel, Moses saw God in Mount Sinai, Isaiah saw God in the sanctuary, and Paul saw God on the Damascus road… just to name a few. Here Ezekiel saw visions of the glory of God and it shaped his life and ministry for the rest of his life.
Ezekiel lies speechless following his encounters with God. He is in awe of the magnificence. majesty, and marvelous nature of God. I wonder what your time with God each day is like? What kind of effect it has upon you? Are you still in awe of who God is and what He is like? Are you still humbled that you can have access to Him and talk with Him? Do you take it for granted or does your heart swell with gratitude over God’s greatness? Are you amazed that God would ask you to participate in His program?
Ezekiel was given a tough task of giving a message to people who did not want to hear his message, nor would they respond to it. They were a rebellious and hard-hearted group… much like witnessing today in America. However, like Ezekiel we have been called to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. (Matt. 28:19-20) We must always remember that it is not the response, but the privilege to speak on behalf of God that motivates us and humbles us as we obey!
