Pastor’s Bible Reading Schedule:
Esther 5-9
Esther 7:7-10
7 And the king arising from the banquet of wine in his wrath went into the palace garden: and Haman stood up to make request for his life to Esther the queen; for he saw that there was evil determined against him by the king.
8 Then the king returned out of the palace garden into the place of the banquet of wine; and Haman was fallen upon the bed whereon Esther was. Then said the king, Will he force the queen also before me in the house? As the word went out of the king’s mouth, they covered Haman’s face.
9 And Harbonah, one of the chamberlains, said before the king, Behold also, the gallows fifty cubits high, which Haman had made for Mordecai, who had spoken good for the king, standeth in the house of Haman. Then the king said, Hang him thereon.
10 So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then was the king’s wrath pacified.
The principle of sowing and reaping is declared in Galatians 6:7 “Be not deceived, God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth that shall he also reap.” The world sometimes states this principle as “What goes around, comes around.” Haman was blinded by his own arrogance and in that arrogance was offended by Mordecai’s dedication to his God. Mordecai was determined to never bow to anyone accept his God, the Creator of the universe. Haman was his own god and his desire was for everyone to bow to him in the universe. Therefore, Haman devised a plan to destroy Mordecai and every Jew in the kingdom.
In a sovereign turn of events that directly affected the king of Persia and he was reminded of the time Mordecai had saved his life. In a humiliating event, Haman’s pride and arrogance paved the way for God to humble him. Haman is an example that “God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.” He personifies the truth that “pride goeth before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.”
All of the wrath and bitterness that Haman had for Mordecai was poured out upon him from the wrath and bitterness of King Ahasuerus. The gallows that were intended for Mordecai the king demanded to be used to impale Haman. The principle of sowing and reaping is a true principle. Therefore, it is wise for all of us to sow righteousness.
