Pastor’s Bible Reading Schedule:
Zechariah 7-8; Psalm 148-150
Psalm 148:1-5
1 Praise ye the LORD. Praise ye the LORD from the heavens: praise him in the heights.
2 Praise ye him, all his angels: praise ye him, all his hosts.
3 Praise ye him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light.
4 Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that be above the heavens.
5 Let them praise the name of the LORD: for he commanded, and they were created.
Thirteen times in Psalm 148, God calls upon all of creation to praise Him. The Psalmist systematically works his way through the entire realm of creation and encourages praise to the amazing Creator whose name alone is excellent. (vs. 13) I wonder how much time we really spend praising God for who He is and what all He has done. I wonder how much we take for granted? It is in the names of God that we see all of who He is and a full description of His amazing attributes. Are we really thankful for who God is? How much time have you spent in the past few weeks just praising God for His attributes… the character traits that entail His Godhead.
When I read these final chapters in Psalms, I am always reminded to praise God more. I am encouraged to listen to more music that praises His name, enjoy more preaching that lifts up the names of God, and to spend more time just talking about how great God is. We are so blessed to be a Christian and it was all made possible by our loving God. Maybe an extended time praising Him today would be very appropriate. Let all of creation praise the Lord!
