Pastor’s Bible Reading Schedule:
2 Samuel 6; 1 Chronicles 11, 14; Psalm 16, 101
Key Thought:
Personal integrity is a precious commodity that enriches the reputation of all who possess it. Integrity, in fact, comes from a root word that means a total integration of all the parts of one’s life into a consistent whole. When a believer lives a life of integrity, the Word of God is completely integrated into his life. No area is untouched or unaffected by obedience to the Scripture. Integrity describes someone who is marked by honesty and sincerity. He is without hypocrisy. Someone with integrity is consistent with his stated convictions. As James says, it is “showing you my faith by my works.” (James 2:18)
David says in Psalm 101:2, I will behave myself wisely in order to live a blameless life. David purposed to pursue a life of personal holiness. Here we find in David a desperate prayer that God would strengthen his resolve to pursue the path of personal integrity. How long has it been since you begged God in prayer regarding your own personal holiness? David realized that his pursuit of holiness should begin in the privacy of his own house, where he lived, in his own private world. David also understood the close connection between his eyes and his heart. He realized that his eyes were the gateway to his heart. Through the eyes, temptation enters the heart. If David was to remain blameless in his heart, his eyes must remain singular and pure. May we join David today in a pursuit for holiness and a life of integrity.
