Ezekiel 37:19-23
19 Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.
20 And the sticks whereon thou writest shall be in thine hand before their eyes.
21 And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land:
22 And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all:
23 Neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions: but I will save them out of all their dwelling places, wherein they have sinned, and will cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God.
As Ezekiel writes on the two sticks and puts them together and explains the meaning that God was going to reunite His people under God. God promised to bring Israel together into one nation under God and that they would never be divided again. God is the great Uniter and the Devil is the great divider! God promised to unite His people physically in their homeland, emotionally from the consequences of their sin, and to restore them spiritually.
It is important for us to remember, as Americans, that it is only God that can reunite us and we submit ourselves under God and in submission to His word. Our forefathers were committed to knowing, honoring, and obeying the word of God. We have moved to become a nation of secular humanist, and selfishness always brings envy, strife, and division. (1 Cor. 3) May we humble ourselves and submit ourselves to God, resist the Devil so he will flee from us. (James 4) The only way we will ever be a nation under God, will be by humbling ourselves or having God humble us. May we make a good decision!
