Pastor’s Bible Reading Schedule:
Psalm 125-128
When even the weakest Christian exercises the simplest faith in God, he becomes anchored to an immovable mountain of stability. No matter what adversity assails him, his God-trusting soul becomes firmly attached to a sturdy fortress that cannot be swayed… which is the strong name of the Lord. All who trust the Lord become like a person standing on a firm mountain during earthshaking times. Though the whole earth shake, he will not be moved. He remains immovable as he takes his stand on God and his Word. A sure foundation is fixed beneath his feet. Though the entire earth be in upheaval about him, his soul is undergirded and grounded in God, who cannot be moved. The believer is made to be stable and sure because God is a firm and fixed anchor for his soul. “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord for as much as ye know, your labor is not in vain, in the Lord.” (I Cor. 15:58)
Psalm 125 declares this great message of hope. It is a song of trust in God who is fixed and firm and who provides stability of every kind for those who rest in Him. The psalmist here compares believers with Mount Zion, indicating that they are secure in God, even in treacherous times. As the psalmist stands upon Mount Zion in the city of God, looking upward to God, he believes that his faith makes him, spiritually speaking, as strong as the rock-solid mountain on which he has planted his feet. His faith is greatly increased as he trusts in the Lord with a renewed confidence. May that be yours and my testimony as well.
