Pastor’s Bible Reading Schedule:
Ezekiel 47-48
In Ezekiel 48, the final chapter of the book, God reveals His plan for the land allotments for His people Israel. This chapter has a very unique approach and order of the tribes; however, there is a reason for the order. The tribes that originated through Jacob’s handmaids (Bilhah and Zilpah) were placed on the outer north-south extremities of the new land, and thus distant from the central consecrated areas. The eight tribes that originated from Leah and Rachael would be given lands in the center of the land, four tribes on each side of the sacred space. The sons of Rachael, Jacob’s beloved wife, would occupy the most privileged positions right next to the most holy portion. to the holy portions.
We are reminded in this passage of the special place the Jewish people have in the plan of God. They are truly God’s chosen people and they have been especially blessed by God.
We, as God’s children, have been given special responsibilities as God’s people. We will one day be rewarded according to our faithfulness to steward the things God has entrusted to us. Laban and Leah schemed to manipulate Jacob in order to get their way instead of following God’s plan and will. It didn’t work out in the end, and Leah’s offspring were affected. We cannot scheme and manipulate God’s plan and will for our own advantage. We must follow God’s plan, and find joy in participating in His program.
