Pastor’s Bible Reading Schedule:
Deuteronomy 1-2
Saturday: Deuteronomy 3-5
Sunday: Deuteronomy 6-8
Key Thought:
The greatest lesson of Deuteronomy 1 is that it was time for Israel to move. They had “dwelt long enough on this mountain.” (vs. 6) God never intended for us to plateau or settle in our Christian lives. He desires that we “grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!” However, I fear that too many Christians need to hear the words, “it’s time to keep moving.”
As we look forward to revival meetings this next week, this is a great reminder for what God wants from us as His children. It can be stated in three words: Repent, return, and reclaim. God wants us to repent of wrong attitudes, actions, and ideas and return to design of God for His children. We find that design in the word of God and empowered by the Spirit of God so that we can live the will of God. Then God wants us to reclaim lost territory. Those areas of our lives where God once ruled and reigned, but we have systematically strayed away. Maybe there was a time when you were a consistent gospel witness, but you have been lazy or just plain disobedient. Maybe there was a time when you were faithful to church, but you have been hit and miss for a while. God simply says, “it is time to move!” It is time to repent, return, and reclaim.
