Pastor’s Bible Reading Schedule:
1 Samuel 22; Psalm 52
Saturday: 1 Samuel 23; Psalm 54; 63
Sunday: 1 Samuel 24; Psalm 13; 22
Key Thought:
If you have ever been in the place where people were trying to destroy you with their tongues, you know it is very unpleasant. You know the hurt that the tongue can do, and the disappointment that betrayal and agendas can create. Doeg, the leader of Saul’s men, went on a smear campaign to try to destroy David. David claims that Doeg’s mouth was like a sharp razor, cutting with deceit, penetrating through lies, and killing for selfish agenda. David was clear, that the deceit of his mouth was consistent with the deceit of his life.
In Psalm 52, David reminds us to place our confidence in the name of God when under attack. David relied on God with a heart full of praise, even while Doeg was trying to destroy his credibility, character, and calling. Every believer today must do the same. When surrounded by trials or difficult circumstances or when under attack, we should run to God as our stronghold, fortress, and refuge. God will protect those who call on Him and hide themselves in Him. May covid-19 and all other trials and dangers serve to drive us, as God’s children, deeper into His presence, and with a desire for deeper intimacy with God. As we learned Wednesday from the book of Nahum, God will destroy the unrighteous while giving victory to His people.
