Pastor’s Bible Reading Schedule:
Exodus 1-4:17
Key Thought:
Have you lived life long enough to feel a little like the famous illustration of the cowboy on the western frontier who came across an Indian lying flat with his ear to the ground? The Indian looked up at the cowboy sitting on his horse and said, “Wagon; four horses; two passengers; one a woman; the other a heavy man driving; thirty minutes away.” The cowboy’s jaw dropped as he said, “That is so amazing! You can tell all of that just by putting your ear to the ground?” “No,” the Indian replied, “they ran over me a half hour ago!”
There are times in life when we all feel like that Indian. Maybe someone has deliberately run over you… a friend, your spouse, a coworker, an employee, etc. You feel that they have knocked you down and you feel deeply wounded. Or maybe the circumstances of life have flattened you. Maybe your health has you broken. Or maybe your house or home is falling apart. That financial investment you made, just didn’t work out. And just when you needed encouragement the most, the people around you seemed to be oblivious to your hurt, or they misinterpreted your actions and say, “You have no reason to be so down in the dumps?” Everyone needs encouragement and comfort at some point in their life. Remember this, whatever place of bondage you are in right now, God knows. And whatever place of suffering you find yourself, God cares. And when you labor to remain faithful to God’s leading and remain patient through the adversity, God will do something about it. That is the great news of the book of Exodus. This book is a balance of deliverance, direction, and dedication.
