Pastor’s Bible Reading Schedule: 2 Chronicles 13-14; Luke 7
Devotional Thought:
I want to thank each of you for taking the time to have devotions with me each weekday. I apologize that I will not be able to have access to the internet the next few days at my in-laws; however, we will continue the faith’s focus devotionals on December 1st. I am honored to share with you the things God is teaching me regarding His word and how it can apply to my heart each day. I hope that they are beneficial to you as well.
Here in Luke 7 the Lord is teaching about a Gentile’s great faith. The centurion had great respect for the person of Christ, the position of Christ, and the power of Christ. “Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof: Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.” (vs. 6-7) The centurion pictured such great faith to ask Jesus to come, to address Jesus’ worth, and to admit Jesus’ power. The centurion said, “…say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.” He realized that Jesus did not need to be present with his servant, but was all powerful, all knowing, and all present. The centurion realizing a clear chain of command and the submission that is necessary in subordinates, declares a right view of God allows for a right view of self. This chapter helps us to see that God is able to heal those who are sick, those who die, and those who need to be saved. The wicked publicans and prostitutes were willing to accept the fact that they were sinners and in need of a Savior and were saved. However, the religious leaders of the day rejected the counsel of God and remained in their lost condition. Oh that we would model the submissive, humble, and responsiveness to the Son of God that the woman, who was a sinner, displayed. How sad that the Pharisees and religious hypocrites condemned the woman and Jesus for the display of grace, humility, and mercy. May we desire to display the same attributes as our Savior for the wonderful love, mercy, and grace He has shown unto us.
Personal Requests:

• Lord, thank you for the privilege to serve you as I serve the people you have placed in my life.
• Lord, please help me to have a humble heart, grateful for the forgiveness of my sin and the home in heaven. You are so gracious to me.
