Pastor’s Bible Reading Schedule: Exodus 1-3
Devotional Thought:
Oh how we understand living in a strange country. As Christians, we certainly do not fit in the secular humanistic mindset of our culture and society. It is an interesting parallel to see how God’s plan for the Israelites was for them to multiply in numbers while in Egypt. When Jacob came to Egypt there were 70 of them, which was substantially more than when God made the promise to Abraham. Then there were only two of them. At the end of the 400 years in Egypt, there were an estimated 2 million Israelite people. There was an estimation of over 600,000 adult men. It is no surprise that the new Pharaoh worried about a possible take over. The strategy to stop the threat was to eliminate the males, marry the women to Egyptians, convert their lifestyle to the Egyptian way of living, and in time there would be no distinguishable Jewish people. I cannot help but think of God’s plan for us Christians. We have been left as pilgrims in a foreign land to preach the gospel to every creature. We have the glorious responsibility to participate in the expansion of the kingdom of heaven. However, the god of this world has effectively undermined the Biblical role of male leadership, killed many wonderful men of God, and wounded and injured others. How sad that so many men have cowered away from being strong Biblical leaders and sold their lives and souls to the world. Now, many generations later, it can be very difficult to distinguish Christians from the world. Professing Christian men stopped reading the Bible in their homes, making church attendance a priority, praying regularly with their families, and modeling integrity principles from the Bible. No wonder our nation is in its condition. Men quit standing against sin and emphasizing holiness. What a glorious thought that one day, the Lord will come in the clouds and deliver us out of this body of death and sin sick society. Just as He delivered Israel out of Egypt, He will one day deliver us.
Personal Requests:
• Lord, help me to be a godly leader. Help me to stand believing the promises of God and acting upon them.
• Lord, help me to never doubt your program, but to always be a willing participant to your will.
• Lord, help me to discern the plan of the Devil. How he patiently pursues to discredit, destroy, and disrupt your purposes.
• Thank you Lord for the confirmation that you always keep your promises and never lose control of any situation.
