Suggested Bible Reading: Exodus 36-38
Devotional Thought:
These chapters contain further details of the construction of the Tabernacle. There are several additional items of information, which I am not going to address in this devotional. In chapter 39 we find the work is completed and the intention, instruction, and importance regarding the tabernacle is communicated. All has been carried out according to all that the Lord commanded him. It has already been noted in the introduction to the Tabernacle that creation occupies the first and part of the second chapters of Genesis, but the making of the Tabernacle requires thirteen chapters of Exodus. The creation of the stars occupies one phrase (Gen. 1:16), but the Tabernacle takes up approximately one third of Exodus. It is a wonder to behold creation and see in it “his eternal power and Godhead” (Romans 1:19-20), but He is more taken up with the work of redemption, a work that should cause us even greater wonder than observing the incredible beauty and exquisite detail of what God created. Just as these workmen waited on the verdict that Moses would deliver as to the accuracy and quality of the work, so Christians will await the Lord’s verdict on their work at the Judgment Seat of Christ. (Rom 14:10) At that time there will be no opportunity to carry out any of the work a second time. We find that Moses blessed these hard working and faithful craftsmen. What an amazing fulfillment it must have been to receive this from the hand of Moses. The principle is clear; blessing follows faithfulness! God rewards the true and faithful; it is His joy to bless.
However, in regards to the tabernacle, there is more to be done. The Tabernacle cannot lie empty; it must be used, and the book of Leviticus gives instructions regarding this. Further tests lie ahead, but at this moment they have completed a great work for the Lord and can pause and rejoice in the goodness of God that had taken them from building the treasure cities of Egypt, to building the House of the Lord their God. We too at Faith Baptist Church have seen many faithfully serving and we have received His blessing. However, there is so much more to do. May we continue to be found faithful!
