Pastor’s Bible Reading Schedule:
Job 1-3
Key Thought:
The testimony of Job demonstrates how God can be an anchor for our soul. Job provides an outstanding case study in how to handle adversity. God, absolutely sovereign yet infinitely wise, reminds us that His ways are perfect; therefore, we can trust Him. When tragedy strikes, there are no explanations sent from God explaining why such an ordeal has just been unleashed upon our lives. In the midst of life’s tragedies, when we most want answers, so often there are none. In these difficult hours we must simply trust God. Job’s life reveals the marks of a true, vibrant faith. Such an authentic faith finds, at its core, a sincere fear of God. This is where the Christian life begins. Such a reverential awe is foundational to any personal knowledge of God. Fearing God is, quite simply, taking Him seriously in our lives and giving Him the unrivaled place of honor that belongs to Him alone. When answers are not forthcoming and trials overwhelm us, it is in these difficult times that the greatest worship is offered to God. Believers must respond as Job did in these dark hours by worshipping God. Though circumstances change, often from bad to worse, God remains the same, eternally unchanging, always worthy of our worship. As Job found an anchor for his soul in God, so may we as we put our trust in Him.
